Magento Live Australia 2016 – Snippets

This was our 3rd year in Magento Live Australia, Sydney. We enjoy being part of any Magento event and this one was no different. Congrats to Magento for putting together another terrific event.

This year, we were on the panel at a couple of breakout sessions. One was on Personalization – (The World of Personalization from Experiences to Customers to Products) moderated by Bob Meixner, Head of Solutions Consulting – North America, Magento Commerce and the other on Marketplace – (Magento Marketplace and Xcelerate Technology Partner Program Overview) moderated by Bhavin Rawal, Head of Magento Marketplace and Technology Partnerships, Magento Commerce

Personalization

The personalization session was packed with audience. Most of the retailers attending the session were doing some kind of personalization to their sites. This was a key focus area for marketers and we will post the video of the session once we have it to share it with the audience of our blog.

Magento Marketplace

Bhawin Rawal, the new head of Magento Marketplace and Technology Partnerships lead the breakout session with a presentation on his plans for the market-place followed by a panel discussion. He mentioned that the average price of an extension being sold in the marketplace is $185. He added that there were 750+ extensions and 200+ extensions are coming soon.

Magento also has plans to introduce subscription billing for extension developers to make it easy to bill the merchants.

Leadership Team

We met with the executive leadership team at Magento including its CEO Mark Lavelle. It is very evident that Magento is putting in a lot of hard-work and being strategic with their approach. They are very focused on providing a seamless experience to the merchant and also are partnering extensively with the ecosystem (partners, developers and more).

Had the opportunity to meet with the executive leadership team again at Magento in the NSW (Sydney airport). The team was headed to a Magento event in Japan right after the Sydney event. By no means, it is easy to organize Magento events across the world every year and Magento is very good at doing that. We like your commitment and being invested in the ecosystem, we are all rooting for Magento 2 to be a great success.

Overall, it was a great conference to learn, share and connect with the Magento leaders and the community.

The next Magento Live Australia in Sydney is on Feb 22-23, 2018 and not in 2017.
