After months of extensive planning and excitement finally it happened, the first ever Magento Meetup in Chennai took place @DCKAP on Saturday 27th of September. Chennai, being one of the trinity IT hubs of South India has a considerable amount of Magento Developers who are working on assignments for retailers inside and outside the country, for these developers such a Meetup was long due.
Before we could even begin the event we were greeted by a heavy downpour, in India it considered auspicious if it rains while we are embarking on something new.

We always believe that smaller groups have a wider focus, around 20 Magento developers and few entrepreneurs in the ecommerce space joined us in a three hour long engaging discussion.
The highlight of the event was an impressive session on Magento Performance Optimization from Iyappan. The web performance of Magento enabled ecommerce websites are crucial to any retailer. This session highlighted the technical intricacies involved in creating a high performance ecommerce portal.
This session was followed by a thought provoking presentation by Jeyakiruthika on the methods to enhance sales in Magento powered websites.
After these technical presentations an interactive open end discussion followed. The discussion touched upon themes which included features in Magento 2.0, Layered Navigation, Check out options, Third party modules and the role of web crawlers in Magento. This was an interactive and engaging session where every developer shared their expertise and experience.
We would like to thank all our attendees and organizers who helped to make this Meetup wonderful. We believe that this Magento Meetup is small stepping stone to build a vibrant Magento community in Chennai.
