He highlighted SugarCRM’s recent acquisition of Sales-i, a revenue intelligence platform that integrates ERP data to offer sales teams tailored recommendations. Oram noted that they provide recommendations directly to the salesperson in the form of tasks, emphasizing the importance of AI in enhancing sales effectiveness.

“You need to hire great people, give them the tools to be successful, then take a step back and let them do their job,” he advised. “If you’re trying to micromanage them, you’re never going to be able to scale the company or achieve forward momentum.”

Oram stressed the role of clarity of purpose in motivating teams: “One of the hardest things for a leadership team to do is to take that idea, that North Star, and articulate it very clearly in a way that every person on the team understands. If we’re all aligned to the same goal, motivation just comes naturally.”
