A good conference forces you to grow and challenge yourself. They take you out of your comfort zone and encourage you to think out of the box. At DCKAP, we are always on the look-out for good conferences that help us to grow professionally and personally.
While googling for B2B conferences, we came across Modex, the leading trade show for supply chain, manufacturing and distribution industries. Like all incredible conferences, MODEX lets you see what’s ahead — and take advantage of it to future-proof your business.
We called up the organizers and decided to attend the show as we work in the B2B space, as this will be a great way for us to explore and learn. The conference/exhibition was from Monday, Apr 9, 2018 to Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center.
I attended on April 10 and 11th. Modex 2018 was organized by MHI (a non-profit trade association representing the U.S. material handling, logistics, and supply chain industry).

Event App – Getting Connected
Softeon sponsored a great mobile app for the conference. The schedule and the folks attending the conference (opt-in) was clearly laid out. It was easy to search the exhibitors and look at the different sessions. The tracks were organized in the exhibit floors on different theaters. WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), TMS (Transportation Management Systems), Logistics, Supply Chain, E-Commerce, Amazon were different tracks and lots of useful content.
Networking & Learning
Walking around the exhibit floor and networking at lunch was great. There were a plethora of exhibitors. EPICOR, INFOR, Highjump, Manhattan Associates, Honeywell were some of the exhibitors where I could relate to well. I also met a lot of Pallets, Containers, Forklift manufacturers and distributors and it was good to learn about their challenges!
MHI – Young Professionals Networking Event on Tuesday, April 10th was well attended.
Popular Industry Jargon
Some popular B2B industry jargon and acronyms that were common throughout the conference were…
- 3PL – 3rd Party Logistics
- LCL – Less than Container Load
- LTL – Less than Truck Load
- FTL – Full Truck Load
- CFS – Container Freight Station
Conferences and Shows are always about learning and networking, and I am glad we were able to attend Modex 2018.
