Murdock shares how the service-disabled veteran owned business approaches B2B marketing, hiring, and more.
Austin, Texas—Derrick Murdock, CEO of IPS Packaging, joins the Driven by DCKAP podcast, sharing about the experiences of veterans integrating back into society and the role businesses like IPS packaging play in easing that process. As a veteran himself, Murdock explains that hiring veterans is a win-win decision for businesses.
“Being in the military…veterans already understand working in a team environment. They’re very good at following instructions,” he explains. “So you already have people coming in with the right attitude. And, half the battle is getting people with the right attitude.” Murdock further sheds light on the importance of support for veterans, citing his own experiences and sharing more about resources available.
Shifting to Story-Telling B2B Marketing
Talking about IPS Packaging’s forward-looking approach to marketing, Murdock talks about the role of video, storytelling, and going beyond product pitches. When discussing the idea of team sales approach, he described how IPS is also looking to increase collaboration between the sales and product teams to better serve more customers.
“And we’re leveraging technology,” he added. “So, if we’re doing a business review with our customer, we may have a couple people on site but then we have people video conferencing. We really focus on a team approach.”
In addition to discussing IPS Packaging’s commitment to service and innovation, the podcast discussion also delved into Murdock’s career and lessons on leadership.
