This past week we attended P21WWUG Connect 2022 in San Antonio, TX and we were able to partner with EstesGroup to host a pre-event Charity Walk benefitting the Save the Children International Foundation.
Planning this event was a great experience as we had a lot of people interested in participating. All parties that we worked with were able to bring our vision of this event to life. On the morning of the walk, we had coffee and refreshments available as people were arriving and getting their bib numbers. We also had a marked course with an arch to go through. The course was a 1-mile loop and it was very exciting to see many participants do several laps.
We had the help of a third-party group, Bound Outdoors, to help with all the logistics of being able to scout the grounds of the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa. They helped include signage throughout the path and they also had people around the course directing so no one went off the set course. Leading up to the event they were there to answer all of our questions as most of our team are all around the world so we did not get the chance to see the space before the day of. It was also a great experience working with the coordinators and personnel at JW as they were really attentive to our needs even with all the other P21 preparations.
Overall, we had a pretty successful turnout who were there to join us in on the fun but also for the great cause. After the walk, we also had an array of breakfast items for everyone to enjoy! We were very happy to see everyone start their morning energized for the day to begin.
Many of our participants were kind to donate and EstesGroup and DCKAP will be matching those donations. We decided that we would not only match the donations received but we also set an amount per every mile walked. As a group, we walked a total of 33 miles and in honor of being at P21WWUG Connect 2022, we decided to do $21 dollars per mile. In total, we are happy to be able to donate $1,275 dollars to the Save the Children International Foundation.
