Thank You For Attending Shopify Meetup
Chennai’s First ever Shopify Meetup happened on last Saturday 12/09 at DCKAP, Chennai, India. We, DCKAP always try to build a community around technologies that we are passionate about. Meetups always help to learn, share and network. We have been organizing several Magento Meetups for the past 3 years. This year we started organizing the Shopify Meetup as well.The meetup started with a welcome speech by Srija, Event Coordinator, DCKAP and followed by a quick introduction of the participants.

Exciting Features In Shopify
The first presentation was by Sowmiya, Senior Shopify Developer, DCKAP was about “Exciting Features in Shopify”. It was an interesting talk about the major features available in Shopify and how it enables merchants to launch an eCommerce site quick and easy. She also talked about some of the Shopify features like Shopify Pay, Shopify Live View, Shopify Mobile store Builder, Marketing API and Customer timeline and spotlight search.

Technical Discussion
The next on the agenda was a technical discussion. Some of the topics discussed were :
- Shopify Vs Shopify Plus
- How fast can we launch the e-commerce store using Shopify?
- Things to consider when building Shopify Apps
- How to integrate payments into Shopify Apps?

Sizzling Growth Of Shopify
After the technical discussion, Pasupathi, Shopify Developer, made a refreshing presentation on the “Sizzling Growth of Shopify”. The presentation had some interesting statistics on Shopify’s growth and a comparison of Shopify with other similar and popular platforms. This was followed by an engaging session on the kind of customers who are best suited for the Shopify platform.

How Shopify Powers Small Businesses?
The final session was by Varun Chandrasekhar, Co-Founding Partner at Axiom Consulting who talked about “How Shopify powers small businesses?”. He compared Shopify with various other e-commerce platforms. This was followed by a deep dive on the customizations and Shopify apps needed by small businesses. Playing a devil’s advocate he also spoke about the limitations of Shopify. 
Networking Session and Team Snap
The networking session that followed was fuelled by copious cups of tea/coffee and snacks and this was followed by a team snap. Overall it was a very successful and interesting first meetup.
