DCKAP, a full-service solution provider, has been actively organizing meetups for the past three years across various verticals like QA, Magento, Shopify, UI/UX and Digital Marketing. Having conducted two QA meetups already in the month of February and July of this year, we organized our 3rd Chennai QA-Meetup on 20th, Dec 2017.

Coming Together To Learn And Share
We organized this Evening Tech Talk in collaboration with STeP-IN Forum in association with NASSCOM. This turned out to be a successful meetup with the active participation of AVP, QA Managers, QA Leads, Test Analysts from various companies who had expertise in various technologies. Our main attempt is to bring together the like-minded, passionate QA professionals to discuss, collaborate, share, and learn knowledge about the latest technology and trends in QA.

After the participants settled, Srija our Event coordinator welcomed Sunil Peter and Babu VL from STeP-IN Forum.

The tech talk started with an introductory session by Babu VL, Head of Testing and DevOps from Excelacom. He shared thoughts about the importance and evolution of testing and QA. In addition, he gave a quick intro about StepIN Forum and its role in the Testing ecosystem.

The first presentation of the meetup was on “Taming UI Tests” by Ramya Authappan, Senior SDET at Freshworks. She gave a valuable presentation on UI tests. She shared her best practices and titbits for having efficient UI tests like using page object model, appropriate locators to use, and having test hooks in code.

Later, Sivaranjani, Product Lead at DCKAP, gave a quick overview of our in-house-developed Test Management Tool, “QA Touch”. She explained all the features and integrations available in the test management product along with few perks about future releases.

The second presentation was on “BDD with Cucumber” by Shanmuga Priya, Senior Quality Analyst at DCKAP. She gave us a clear presentation on what is Behavior Driven Testing and how it can be implemented in Cucumber with selenium.

Finally, Sunil Peter, AVP & Head of Process Methods & Tools (PMT) at Maveric Systems & Chapter Chair, STeP-IN Forum, gave a small presentation about STeP-IN organization and its pioneering role in shaping the evolution of software testing in India.

The meetup ended with a thanksgiving speech by Kannathasan, Quality Analyst at DCKAP. Later Karthik Chidambaram our CEO thanked everyone for their participation in the meetup and presented a memento to Ramya Authappan as a token of thanks for her presentation. Last but never the least happened was a networking session, wherein participants had an organic discussion simultaneously enjoying a plate full of mouth-watering snacks.
